Putting the BAPP World To Rights

I feel so much better. To be on the same course and in the same year with a friend makes the process all the more enjoyable. Chloe (https://chloegentles.blogspot.com/) and I have known each other for over 3 years (we are both choreographers for different areas with Rare Productions) and who'd have thought that we would end up studying the same degree in the same year!

We have just signed off from an informal Skype chat to each other; we went through our understanding of Module 1 and filled each other in on small gaps. It was also nice to have a bit of a catch up as well.

Chloe got me up to date on the group chat that was held this afternoon that I couldn't attend, telling me how our 'practice' is an ongoing process, which I thought was rather poetic. Chloe also cleared up with me that Web 2.0 = social media that others can comment on; which is also cool because I love to instagram a lot (does that mean we can apply insta in to our studies?!).

Through our discussion, we bounced off each other's ideas on what content to include in our essay.
That led me on to telling Chloe about what I wrote in a post last week about my 1:1 Skype call with our supervisor, who told me that we need to include 3 things, one of which was auditioning. The thing is, I haven't auditioned for jobs in years since I am not in that end of the business. So, I said to Chloe, "I still don't really know what to discuss as my third point"...she nailed it and asked "have you had an injury?".
As a matter of fact, my left ankle and achilles tendon is weaker than my right, especially after my sprain earlier this year. I find that my plies are strained and sometimes I will have a grumble in the left achilles during warm ups. Chloe mentioned how I could potentially delve into that. Which I thought was genius! Thanks, Chlo!

I like to think that I also provided Chloe with some inspiration for her essay as well when discussing what it might mean about a "Learning Process" when applied during our daily practice (literally, this is my new favourite word!). I said that I was thinking of discussing what my learning process is for production preparation; I am a few weeks away from starting "West Side Story", so may link that in to my essay since I have not worked on that show before and it would be (choreographically) a challenge.

We both expressed how much better we felt afterwards and signed off happy.

Already looking forward to future study chats.

PS: Hope your curry was lush, Chloe!... I, however, am still in my dressing gown. The perks of distance learning, eh?

  1. I love that you ladies had an informal Skype, I know we should be able to ask anything on the call but to be able to bounce ideas off each other informally (and in your dressing gown) sounds great. x

  2. Hey, I found this so useful so firstly thankyou! I've just started the course, so module one and it all seems so much to take in. Having completed this, did you ever reach a point where you thought, "yes I understand what I need to be doing?' haha?

I've just written my first proper blog if you wanna check it out but I do warn you its very long! x
